This Grosses Gewachs bottling hails from the Grand Cru Erdener Treppchen vineyard and the small Meulenhof estate. The land belonging to this estate has a rich history that can be traced back to 1337, and is now under the direction of the Justen family. The 7 hectares of vines they care for are largely ungrafted and perched on steep terraces composed of weathered Devonian slate with Rotliegend (Permian era sandstone). Fruit is painstakingly hand-harvested before ambient fermentation in cask. A superb GG with a cornucopia of white flowers, yellow fruit, and petrol on the nose. Energetic and full-bodied with great balance and depth.
